The Hill school was originally built around 1892 for elementary students. In 1906 the brick and sandstone Hill building became, at the same time as an elementary school, Walsenburg’s first four-year high school. Two rooms were set up for the high school with one principal and two teachers. There were three graduates in1908; Paul Krier, Anna Owens, and Virginia Agnes.
